Jimmy D. Sawyer
Jimmy D. Sawyer, began his funeral career in September of 1997 when he began working with Evans Funeral Home in Edenton, NC. His humble beginnings gave him the opportunity to learn all aspects of the funeral industry. He was giving the chance to trained with two of the best funeral directors in the area. After a few months, he begin studying for his funeral director license at Fayetteville Technical Community College.
After receiving his funeral director licenses, he continued to work Evans where he devoted his life to serving the families in the community. In 2000 he was given a great opportunity of becoming the general manager of the funeral home which was owned by Stewart Enterprises. In 2002 he was named Manager of the Year for the Eastern Region. Jimmy enjoyed his involvement with the company, but continued to have the need and desire to have the funeral home locally owned. With this desire, Jimmy along with a close friend, purchased the funeral home in 2004 and continued to operate it serving many families over the next few years.
The success of the business came because of their strong compassion for the people they served. This gave them the opportunity to open a second location in Williamston in 2008. Shortly after opening, Jimmy decided to focus 100 percent on the new location. As this business continued to grow, he realized that most of the families they were serving really didn't utilize the building. They preferred using their own churches for the visitation and funerals. With this information, he moved out of the building at the end of 2010. This is were Jimmy D. Sawyer Funeral Director Licensee was born.
